Wealth in Heaven

“Do not store up for yourselves wealth here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and burglars break in and steal.  Instead, store up for yourselves wealth in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and burglars do not break in or steal. For where your wealth is, there your heart will be also” – Mattityahu [Matthew] 6:19-21.  Mattityahu 25: 35-45 and other verses in Scripture talk about the work the MESSIAH [CHRIST] wants us to do for HIM: clothe the naked, feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, visit those who are sick and in prison, offer hospitality to strangers, even helping widows and orphans. Also, we are to preach the Good News to all creation – Mark 16:15. The point of these verses is about what we can do to be HIS Hands and Feet and even HIS Mouth by being generous and not stingy.

Do unto others as you would have done unto you says it well.  Remember the widow who gave her last 2 coins – Mark 12:41-44.  The MESSIAH gave HIS all for us and we are to give our all for HIM. HE is the WORD of ELOHIM [Hebrew for GOD and who I believe is FATHER/SON/SPIRIT] that was made flesh, and what HE went through for us I hope to hear in all detail one day because I believe we do not know the depths of what HE suffered for us – just the tip of an iceberg. I do not understand the churches that teach prosperity doctrine and have their focus on money in light of the verses above from Mattityahu. It seems to me that they are promoting the god of money not our ELOHIM – Mattityahu 6:24.  ELOHIM should be our sole and soul focus because if HE is not, then what is our focus becomes our idol and we are worshiping it. This is not a joke. Many are literally worshiping because they love a thing or an object or even a person. HE is very clear about not worshiping any other than HIM and to love HIM above all.

I would like to take the verses at the top from Mattityahu a step further. How about not even expecting wealth in heaven for the work you do for HIS SON. Go in prayer to our ABBA [FATHER] in Heaven and tell HIM to use your heavenly wealth however HE wishes, HIS Will be done, and just trust that you will still be rewarded. I felt this was ELOHIM making a truth known to me by working on my heart. While I felt uncertain at first I realized that if it could help in a greater good that HE knows of, and if HE wants me to walk by faith by giving HIM my trust in this too, that HE knew better than I.  Some of us do good things expecting  a reward for it when the whole point is to do these things because we love and want to help HIM and others, not for any kind of gain to be gotten out of it [which I have done before but am doing better now]. I find that doing this kind of work not only helps in opening up your heart to loving others like HE does but also shows us the roots the world [satan] has in us. Whenever you feel led by HIM to give up money or possessions and you hesitate to give them up it reveals a root the world has in your heart [aka, a tare or weed]. I believe HE does this to show us our weaknesses so that HE can uproot the world from us and replant HIMSELF in its place. So focus on what you can do with what HE has given you and remember, we are proved to see where our hearts are [D’varim – Deuteronomy 8].
