The Du Tillet Matthew: is it the correct one?

The previous study, where I first brought up about the du Tillet Hebrew Matthew/Mattityahu, included information that looked at the possibility of our present Gospel of Matthew being from a scroll written with errors in it. See link to previous study below:

Matthew 1: The answer to the question is 42 not 41!

I did a search on the du Tillet and found a couple of sites that had researched and presented their information on that manuscript, links will be included below. One site also had available in pdf an old book written and published about the du Tillet including translation in English called, “An Old Hebrew Text of St. Matthew’s Gospel” by Hugh Schonfield 1927. Link and quote from the book are below.

“When we turn to the New Testament we find that there are reasons for suspecting a Hebrew or Aramaic original for the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and John, and for the Apocalypse.”, from Preface page vii. On the next page, Schonfield goes into information that states he believes the canonical Gospel to be an abridged edition of a larger original work with even more information then we have today of CHRIST and HIS saying and of which only fragments have survived. He further states that he believes the Judaean Christians were going to use it as the last book of the Old Testament canon. It has been referred to by the names “The Gospel”, “The Gospel of the Lord”, “The Gospel of the Twelve, or, of the Apostles”, “The Gospel of the Hebrews”, and “The Hebrew Matthew”. He believed the original to be in Hebrew and possibly Aramaic and that the Greek renderings were from it and could be proven as such. When I was in Israel I met a scholar who stated that he believed the Greek to be secondary to the Aramaic. I found out there is an Aramaic vs Greek primacy dispute between Eastern and Western scholars in regards to the original New Testament manuscripts.

In “Caesar and Christ” by Will Durant, on page 616 is this paragraph which backs up what Schonfield said above:

“The literature of Christianity in the second century abounded in gospels epistles, apocalypses, and “acts.” Christians differed widely in accepting or rejecting these as authoritative expressions of the Christian creed. The Western churches accepted the Book of Revelation, the Eastern churches generally rejected it; these accepted the Gospel according to the Hebrews and the Epistles of James, the Western churches discarded them. Clement of Alexandria quotes as sacred scripture a late first-century treatise, The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles. Marcion’s publication of a New Testament forced the hand of the Church. We do not know when the books of our present New Testament were determined as canonical-i.e., as authentic and inspired;; we can only say that a Latin fragment discovered by Muratori in 1740, named after him, and generally assigned to ca.180, assumes that the canon had by that time been fixed.”

On page 556 Durant says, “Orthodox tradition placed Matthew’s Gospel first. Irenaeus describes it as originally composed in “Hebrew”-i.e., Aramaic; but it has come down to us only in Greek.” This agrees with what is stated in the preface of the “Holy Bible: Ancient Eastern Text” by George Lamsa:

With reference to….the originality of the Peshitta text, as the Patriarch and Head of the Holy Apostolic and Catholic Church of the East, we wish to state, that the Church of the East received the scriptures from the hands of the blessed Apostles themselves in the Aramaic original, the language spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and that the Peshitta is the text of the Church of the East which has come down from the Biblical times without any change or revision.”

GOD sends out HIS Wrath to ease HIS displeasure!

ISR – Ezekiel/Yechezk’El 5:13 ‘And My displeasureH639 shall be completed. And I shall bring My wrath H2534to rest upon them, and I shall be eased. And they shall know that I, יהוה, have spoken it in My ardour, when I have completed My wrath upon them.

KJV – Ezekiel/Yechezk’El 5:13 Thus shall mine anger H639 be accomplished, and I will cause my furyH2534 to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the LORD have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.

The verse above was stunning to me when I first found it. I realized that GOD/ELOHIM [FATHER/SON/HOLY SPIRIT] has to do this! HE sends HIS Wrath out to EASE HIS displeasure so HE can be comforted! That is HUGE!!! All the Biblical signs around us of HIS judgement per Scripture: storms, fires, floods, famine, pestilence, plague, volcanoes, earthquakes, etc are all HIM easing HIS displeasure, not mother nature which is just another name for spiritual wickedness/the harlot! While there are different factors that men influence in regards to the climate, GOD/ELOHIM is in complete control! AMEN!!! We are somewhere in the time of the end and per Scripture, things are going to be getting worse!

GOD/ELOHIM has to take care of HIMSELF, too!  May HE do what HE needs to do because without HIM we are nothing!!! We can ask HIM to change HIS mind or for a lesser event, for mercy and compassion, and see what HE decides to do! HE needs much praise, and thanks, and blessing these days for whatever HE decides to do or not do! Remember, HE knows the whole picture, HE knows what is best! Remember too these are like the days of Noah again, when GOD/ELOHIM wanted to destroy HIS whole creation and HE did not because of one man and his family, praise ELOHIM’S NAME even all HIS NAMES!!! AMEN!!!

Search for YHWH [the LORD] with all your heart!!!

There is so much information in Scripture that people are not listening to or understanding and some do not want to understand because there would be big changes that would have to be made in their lives. Many Churches are not teaching the Narrow Way or they have the wide way mixed in with the Narrow and are not doing the work they need to do to be completely Set-Apart to ELOHIM’S Way. The fact that FATHER/SON/SPIRIT can only be worshiped in Truth and that what is required of those in Covenant is complete obedience to ELOHIM’S Way, is abundantly clear throughout both the Old and New Testaments [Covenants].

ELOHIM [Hebrew word for GOD] has been through so much because of people being deceived. People give in to their weaknesses. They end up wanting what is of the enemy and do not want ELOHIM only. They end up being used by the enemy because they do not know or understand the Truth. This breaks my heart because FATHER/SON/SPIRIT deserve our complete obedience out of love for THEM not just because of THEM being ELOHIM. What many do not realize is that one day we will have no choice but to only worship and live the Way of ELOHIM, in the Set-Apart [Holy] City forever! HalleluYAH!!! Continue reading

Is your belief in the MESSIAH [CHRIST] allowing HIS miracles or causing HIM to groan?

When reading Yochanan [John] 11, I was surprised by something I feel is big. There is truth in Scripture right in front of our eyes but sometimes we can read verses over and over and not see what is in front of us very plainly. It may be because we are blind to it [hopefully just temporarily] or sometimes we get deeper revelations as we grow closer to ELOHIM [Hebrew word for GOD and who I believe is FATHER/SON/HOLY SPIRIT]. The following verses all talk about not seeing with our eyes and not hearing with our ears: Yesha’yahu [Isaiah] 6:8-11, [these next repeat much of what is in Yesha’yahu] Mattityahu [Matthew] 13:13-17 and Yochanan 12:39-41. Take a look at the verses below and my commentary added in bold letters within brackets to see what I see. Continue reading
